The Israeli army’s new order to evacuate the people of Gaza City

Israeli Army on Wednesday Gaza Thousands of pamphlets were dropped on the city, ordering all residents to evacuate in anticipation of military action in the central city of the Strip.

“Every person in Gaza City has designated routes to get out of the city and further south to designated safe areas,” the pamphlets read.

They warned that “when the army targets Hamas targets, the urban area will become a dangerous war zone.”

Israel issued its first official order to withdraw from part of the city on June 27, and two more such orders were issued later.

In leaflets, the Israeli army said residents would be able to travel quickly and without inspection from Gaza City to shelters in Deir al-Balah and al-Zawiya using two “safe routes”.

Earlier in January, Israel said it had “destroyed Hamas military structures” in the northern city.

Tens of thousands of civilians have already evacuated Gaza City, where ground fighting has erupted, since the Israeli army launched a fresh offensive in the city’s eastern Shujaiya neighborhood.

The two latest orders cover the central and western areas of the city where Israeli tanks and troops entered this week.

Israel also said its forces had targeted ‘militants’ inside the vacated headquarters of UN agency UNRWA for residents of Gaza City.

Israel has also targeted Deir al-Balah, an area where Palestinians have been urged to move to save their lives.

The United Nations expressed concern over Israel’s withdrawal orders on Tuesday while saying that they are pushing Palestinians back into areas where fighting is already taking place.

According to figures released by the Gaza Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 38,243 people, mostly children, women and civilians, have been killed by Israel’s offensive on Gaza since October 7.
