JERUSALEM, Feb. 17, 2022 (Xinhua) The Israeli army announced this evening (Thursday) that it had shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah following it crossed Israeli airspace.
In a statement, Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said that the army had shot down a drone belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah that had infiltrated from inside Lebanon.
Adraei added that the plane was under the supervision of the Israeli air force throughout the accident.
He stressed that the Israeli army “will continue to work to prevent any violation of the sovereignty of the State of Israel.”
The incident came one day following Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said that his party began converting its missiles into “precision missiles” a few years ago, and began manufacturing drones some time ago.
Nasrallah said in a televised speech at a festival held by (Hezbollah) in the southern suburb of Beirut, we have the ability to convert the thousands of missiles we have into precision missiles, and we started that years ago and converted a large number of our missiles into accurate ones. /ts/
