The Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, announced the end of a military operation launched by the Israeli forces, today, Saturday, in the Jenin camp in the West Bank, during which Palestinians were “neutralised” and arrested.
Adraei said on his Twitter account that the Israeli army clashed during the operation with gunmen who opened fire on them, noting that one of the neutralized gunmen belongs to the Islamic Jihad movement.
He added that another force neutralized another gunman who also belongs to Islamic Jihad, explaining that “he was arrested and transferred to receive medical treatment following his weapon was seized.”
The spokesman pointed out that an Islamic Jihad member was killed and a number of Palestinian gunmen were wounded during the clashes, without causing any casualties among the Israeli forces.
Earlier today, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) quoted the Ministry of Health as saying that a young man was killed and 13 others were wounded by Israeli forces’ bullets following they stormed the Jenin refugee camp.
The agency stated that the Israeli forces launched a massive campaign of raids on dozens of homes in the camp, noting the outbreak of “violent confrontations” there.
She added that the Israeli forces surrounded the home of the family of the Tel Aviv attacker, Raad Fathi Hazem, in Jenin refugee camp, and demanded that they surrender. Israeli media reported that 3 people were killed and others were wounded.
