Apple would think of selling its iPhone and his iPad as part of a hardware subscription service by late 2022 or early 2023.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, the sale of iPhones and iPads as an Apple subscription service is expected soon. This fits into the firm’s recent strategiesbut what is it?
Apple is moving more and more towards all-subscription
Apple now generates a growing share of its revenue from its various subscription services. Its decision to sell its iPhone and iPad as a subscription service is part of this trend. We have also seen that in this firm, the emphasis has been increasingly placed on recurring subscriptions. So it is with Apple Music, Apple Tv PlusApple News Plus, Apple Fitness Plus and Apple Arcade.
These recurring subscriptions have since represented the company’s new key revenue streams. These services have been bundled into the Cupertino company’s Apple One bundles.
It was also observed that Apple added a monthly subscription model for its AppleCare extended warranties in 2019. It offers its iPhone Upgrade Program. This program allows customers to pay the combined cost of AppleCare and an iPhone over 24 months. The buyer can then exchange his device following 12 months of payment. These two programs are very similar toa hardware subscription.
Apple already offers monthly payments for iPhone
According to the same Bloomberg report, the monthly fee would not just be the price of the iPhone divided by 12 or 24 months. They would rather an unknown monthly cost representing the ability to upgrade to new hardware as soon as it is released.
At present, it is possible to pay Apple monthly for its services and even for An iphone. However, these are always specific costs. As with all of Apple’s other subscriptions, your hardware would also be tied to your Apple ID account. You’ll even have the option to bundle it into AppleCare or Apple One services.
However, it remains difficult to imagine that Apple will lend devices on a monthly basis and then take it back at the end of the process. The firm may think so eliminate the various intermediaries between it and the customers. Especially since it is very likely that it will extend this subscription service to other hardware products such as the iPadits Mac computers… In any case, one thing is certain: Apple’s subscription ambitions are only just beginning.
