The iPhone 16 will be launched on September 20, with its unveiling already on September 10. What news will Apple come with?

Apple is likely to launch its new iPhone 16 series on Friday, September 20, with Apple expected to send out invitations to the media this week for its iPhone announcement event.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to hold an event on Tuesday, September 10, where it will introduce the iPhone 16 models along with the next-generation Apple Watch models and the new AirPods. Apple has yet to officially announce a date for its September event, Gurman is instead relying on sources familiar with Apple’s plans.

iPhone 16: What we can expect

The iPhone 16 series is expected to bring a number of new features and improvements. Here’s a preview of what we can expect:

Bigger display

  • Although the exterior designs are not expected to undergo major changes overall, we expect a slight increase in display size and a new aspect ratio for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models.
  • All four iPhone 16 models will feature a new Capture Button, which will be used to take photos and videos with finer controls.

Design changes

  • The standard iPhone 16 models are expected to have a vertical camera setup. On newer iPhone models, Apple used a diagonal layout, but the swap may allow for 3D video recording with the Ultrawide and Wide cameras.
  • The iPhone 15 Pro models include an Action Button, and the Action Button is expected to be extended to standard iPhone 16 models in 2024. The Action Button used across the iPhone 16 line will be identical to the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro. The action button, which replaces the traditional mute switch, can perform several functions, such as activating the flashlight, turning on the camera, launching a shortcut, turning focus mode on or off, using translator, turning silent mode on/off, and more.

Apple Intelligence and improved Siri

  • With iOS 18.1, Apple will introduce Intelligence, a set of artificial intelligence tools that use extensive language models. Apple Intelligence only works with the current iPhone 15 Pro models, and some of the most advanced generative AI features could be limited to the next iPhone 16 models.
  • The iPhone 16 models will reportedly be equipped with an improved microphone to significantly improve working with Siri. This improvement is in line with the expected integration of new Apple Intelligence features of iOS 18, which offer better interaction between Siri and various applications.

New camera technology

  • Photography enthusiasts can look forward to the improved 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens on the iPhone 16 Pro models, which promises better image quality, especially in low-light conditions.
  • In addition, both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are said to feature 5x telephoto lenses, a feature that was previously limited to the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Battery innovation

  • The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to use stacked battery technology, which could lead to higher capacity and longer life.
  • This technology could be complemented by faster MagSafe wired and wireless charging options.

Processor improvements

  • The iPhone 16 Pro and Max models will be powered by the A18 Pro processor, which will offer a slight increase in speed and an improved Neural Engine, as well as support for advanced generative artificial intelligence capabilities.
  • Standard models are expected to use a variant of the new A18 chip, but exact specifications have yet to be confirmed.

Other alleged features

  • The iPhone 16 Pro Max could be the first to feature a periscope camera super-telephoto lens for significantly greater optical zoom.
  • The iPhone 16 Pro models could be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem, which will enable faster and more efficient 5G connections.
  • Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the iPhone 16 Pro models could use WiFi 7 network generation technology, which should provide speeds of “at least 30” gigabits per second and could reach up to 40 Gbps.

We will again broadcast the commented broadcast of the entire iPhone 16 launch event on our YouTube channel, Facebook page and on the website. You will know everything after the official confirmation of the Apple date.
