The iPhone 14 Pro should introduce a major novelty

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is regarding to finally move up a gear on the photo side.

Since the iPhone 6s, Apple had not changed the resolution of photos captured with its smartphone. The iPhone 14 Pro would be the first apple device to inherit a new sensor, capable of capturing 48-megapixel images, according to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. A notable development since at present, the iPhone 13 is still limited to a 12 megapixel sensor only.

If the number of pixels is not everything in the race for better quality photos, a higher resolution photo nevertheless allows an enlargement of the image and theoretically therefore a zoom on part of the photo. Many other manufacturers offer 50 or even 100 megapixel sensors, capable of capturing a lot of detail, then zooming in on part of the image. In the jargon, this is called a digital zoom.

Despite its apparent delay, Apple had nevertheless managed to stand up to the best by improving the photo algorithm with each new model and using new, brighter sensors. However, the recipe shows its limits, especially on the “Pro” models. Will the arrival of a 48-megapixel sensor reverse the trend for Apple?
