The National Frequency Agency asked Apple on Tuesday to withdraw the iPhone 12 from the French market, due to excessively high wave emissions.
A press release from the agency announces that “as part of its missions of monitoring the radio equipment market and controlling public exposure to electromagnetic waves, the ANFR carries out checks on mobile phones placed on the French market . She recently monitored the specific absorption rates (SAR) of 141 phones, including the Apple iPhone 12 phone. SAR makes it possible to quantify the energy transported by electromagnetic waves and absorbed by the human body,” we read in the press release.
ANFR measurements revealed a “member” SAR value exceeding the limit, i.e. 5.74 W/kg. On the other hand, the “trunk” DAS values are consistent, we read in the press release.
“Therefore, Apple must immediately take all measures to prevent the affected phones present in the supply chain from being made available on the market.”
Concerning phones already sold, Apple must take corrective measures as quickly as possible to make the phones concerned compliant, explains the ANFR. Otherwise, it will be up to Apple to recall them.
The agency also indicates that it will monitor the patch update of these phones.
