The iPad 10 would reserve a good surprise for drawing

Expected in the coming weeks in the company of new iPad Pro, the “classic” iPad should take advantage of its 10th iteration to completely change its look and support the Apple Pencil 2 stylus.

2022 might be a great year for the “classic” 10.2-inch iPad. Almost unchanged for ages, Apple’s entry-level slate would swap its faded silhouette this year for a brand new design inspired by the iPad Air. But beyond this aesthetic evolution predicted by various rumors in recent months, we learn that the iPad 10 would also support the Apple Pencil 2 stylus, supported by all other iPads.

This would be an important novelty for the classic iPad which until now was confined to the first Apple Pencil of the name, less effective for designers and designers, and above all impractical to recharge. In the absence of induction charging, the latter is indeed connected (in a somewhat baroque way) to the Lightning socket of the current iPad 9.

Towards an affordable iPad that would not have much to envy the iPad Air?

That said, this change is not yet confirmed. The track of support for the Apple Pencil 2 by the iPad 10 comes to us only from photos shared on Twitter. We discover a protective case for the iPad 10, sold a little too early by the American brand Target. Through its cutouts, but also and above all thanks to the illustration visuals and the mentions displayed on its packaging, this cover tells us before the hour regarding the design of the next iPad… and regarding its supposed compatibility with the latest Apple stylus in date.

As specified XDA Developers, this protective case is made by Speck, an accessory brand that has been on the market for years. There is therefore a good chance that this cover will be precise regarding the renewed design of the iPad 10… especially since it goes in the same direction as many prior rumors.

As a reminder, the iPad 10 should switch to a USB-C connection (instead of a Lightning port currently), which would also explain why Apple should add support for the Apple Pencil 2 to its entry-level iPad. The latter would then bet, like the iPad Air, on a magnetic location dedicated to the induction charging of the stylus.

Now remains to be seen whether Apple will not benefit the launch of its next-generation iPad Pro to announce a Apple Pencil 3 mentioned, too, by certain rumors for a little over a year. Finally, let’s note that, by 2023, Apple might launch a smart dock for iPad similar to what we saw on the Pixel Tablet.
