The Exopulse Mollii Suit is an assistive medical device designed for people suffering from mobility impairments due to stroke, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions. Developed by Ottobock, it is an almost complete suit which aims to relieve the symptoms of spasticity (involuntary muscle stiffness). If you don’t know, the latter manifests itself when there is a disturbance in the nerve signals that control the muscles. This dysfunction can cause involuntary contraction of muscle tissue. It can also cause tremors and cramps.

Integrated electrodes

There are already a wide variety of treatments to alleviate these symptoms, ranging from physical rehabilitation to medication (orally or by injection), to surgery. The Exopulse Mollii Suit was designed to be used in conjunction with these therapies. The role of the combination is to relieve spastic muscles and alleviate associated pain. To do this, she uses a technique known as “neuromodulation” to restore muscle functions. The process relies on 58 electrodes integrated into the one-piece suit.

Comfortable and easy to wash

The electrodes emit very low-power electrical stimulations that target weakened muscles. Thanks to these impulses, the Ottobock neuromodulation medical device contributes to the relaxation of muscle tissues that have lost their functions. This has the effect of restore the natural balance of muscle groups and the functioning of the body as a whole. The Exopulse Mollii Suit has been designed to provide the wearer with the best possible comfort. It consists of a jacket and pants that are easy to put on and wear. In addition, it is made from a blend of machine-washable quality materials.

Available on prescription

Furthermore, it is a medical device which suitable for both children and adults. The Exopulse Mollii Suit is available in around thirty different sizes. According to its manufacturer, the optimal wearing time is one hour every two days. It should be emphasized that before using the combination, it is important to consult a doctor’s advice, especially since its purchase is made via a medical prescription. More info: Ottobock.com.
