Alena Minkovskaya, the 37-year-old daughter of the legendary figure skater Irina Rodnina, gave an interview in which, among other things, she spoke regarding Russia and the Soviet Union.

Rodnina is currently a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and Minkovskaya lives in the USA.

“Why, it seems to me, Russia might so quickly return to such a closed situation. Because it was never… really regarding the Soviet Union, it seems to me… they didn’t fight it following the collapse. Many young people do not know the history of the Soviet Union very well. Of course, the authorities took great advantage of this. Just for nostalgia! We watched how all our grandparents were heroes during World War II. But they didn’t look at the bad things. We must collectively look at the mistakes, at the wrong steps that were taken. Somehow understand this so that you can move forward. I think that there is no country in Russia now. We need to somehow understand what the problem is in order to move forward,” Alena Minkovskaya said in an interview with Khodorkovsky LIVE (Mikhail Khodorkovsky was included in the register of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice).

The interview with Rodnina’s daughter was conducted by journalist Dmitry Elovsky, who was recognized by the Russian Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent in November 2023. It was recorded back in May 2022, but has now become actively disseminated on social networks.

Earlier it was reported that Rodnina’s daughter also said: “In Russia it is very scary to tell the truth. People think they are being eavesdropped and recorded.” In addition, Alena Minkovskaya spoke regarding her mother being included in the sanctions lists and stated that she “is not on the right side.”

Rodnina herself last week explained why she supports the nomination of Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the Russian presidential election in 2024.
