Mohammed bin Thaloub Al-Dari, President of the Judo Federation, International Judo Federation Ambassador for Friendship, Peace and Humanity, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship, received a phone call from Marius Weiser, President of the International Judo Federation, who expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE for hosting the International Judo Federation team. Judo, which includes 20 top-ranked male and female players from various nationalities, is a translation of the International Federation’s message that calls for tolerance, friendship and peace.
On the other hand, the national judo team delegation returned, coming from the Japanese capital, Tokyo, after the end of the final preparation camp, which was held there for a week hosted by the Japanese Tokai University, in cooperation with the Japanese Judo Federation, within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Emirates Judo Federation and the Japanese University. .
The camp came as part of the team’s preparations to participate in the “Abu Dhabi Grand Slam” Championship for Elite Judo Teams for the year 2024, the competitions of which begin at the “Mubadala Arena” hall in Zayed Sports City next Friday morning, and continue until next Sunday evening, with the participation of 339 prominent ranked male and female players. , who represent 45 countries from different continents of the world, including 3 Arab teams represented by the teams of Lebanon, Qatar and the Emirates so far, as the registration window closes with the start of the draw ceremony next Thursday afternoon.
Our team is participating with the largest squad in the history of its participation in the Grand Slam Judo Championships, with the aim of preparing the second row to participate in the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics.
Our team’s roster included 15 male and female players, Zayed Faisal Al Naqbi, Saif Salem, and Hamid Al Shamsi, to participate in the under-60 kg category, Rashid Khalaf Al Zaabi, Zayed Ibrahim Al Balushi, Narmand Bayan (under 66 kg weight), Rashid Ali Al Mashjari, Karim Abdul Latif, and Muhammad Bey. In (under 73 kg), Azzan Hassan Al Zaabi and Talal Shafeli in (under 81 kg), Aram Gregorian in (under 90 kg) and Hareb Jumaa Abdul Rahman in over 100 kg, and the players Bashirat Kharudi in (under 52 kg) and Maitha Muhammad. Al Neyadi in the under 57 kg category.
