The Director of the International Astronomy Center, Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, explained that “most Islamic countries started the month of Dhul-Qi’dah on Wednesday, corresponding to the first of June, including Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Oman, Egypt, the Levant and the Maghreb countries.” Accordingly, the crescent of the month of Dhul-Hijjah will be investigated on Wednesday, June 29 current”, according to “WAM”.
He added: “On that day, seeing the crescent is not possible with the naked eye from anywhere in the Islamic world, while it is hardly possible using a telescope from West Asia and North Africa.”
He said: “It is expected that Thursday, June 30, will be the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in many countries, and that Friday, July 8, will be the Waqf of Arafa, and Saturday, July 9, the first day of Eid al-Adha.”
Odeh pointed out that vision in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Amman, Jerusalem, Cairo and Rabat is possible using the telescope only, although it is difficult in the Middle East and requires a very clear sky to enable vision.
