(PLO)- Paris Saint-Germain club (PSG) created a new internal conflict when giving the role of vice-captain to Kylian Mbappe.
The process of handing the PSG vice-captain to Kylian Mbappe does not seem to go smoothly with Presnel Kimpembe now speaking out on social media. Presnel Kimpembe was PSG’s vice-captain before coach Christophe Galtier decided to give it to Mbappe.

Mbappe wore the PSG captain’s armband in a 7-0 win over France’s sixth-place team US Pays de Cassel earlier this week in the Coupe de France. In the absence of Marquinhos, Mbappe as vice-captain carried the PSG captain’s armband and scored 5 goals once morest US Pays de Cassel. This proves Mbappe’s growing position at PSG following he extended his three-year contract last May.
After the match, PSG coach Christophe Galtier explained his decision to choose Mbappe as the team’s second captain: “I decided that Kylian Mbappe is the second captain since the beginning of the season, he deserves the captain’s armband. when Marquinhos wasn’t around, because he decided to stay at the club.”
However, it is surprising that that decision was not communicated to Kimpembe, who previously served as PSG vice-captain following captain Marquinhos. It is even more confusing when Mbappe was given the “bandage” of PSG vice-captain from the beginning of the season, that is, more than half a year ago that Kimpembe knew nothing. That sparked negative information regarding Kimpembe in the media and it was the French defender who had to speak up.

Kimpembe wrote on her personal Instagram: “In the past few hours, I have been able to hear and read a lot regarding myself. So I want to make things clear to avoid the media continuing to spread false information regarding this issue. I was not told regarding this decision, which is completely untrue… That said, I will always respect the decisions of the club.”
The decision to make Mbappe vice-captain also means that PSG have overlooked Lionel Messi, who captained Barcelona for three seasons before coming to the Park of the Princes team last summer.
Mirror (England) commented, in the 2022 World Cup final between Mbappe’s France and Messi’s Argentina, Mbappe celebrated his goal right in front of Messi, which seemed to imply increased tension between the two.

Mbappe is the only PSG player in the France squad for the 2022 World Cup. He was mocked by Argentina’s goalkeeper Emi Martinez during the victory celebration following the final. Mbappe was given a break by PSG right at the time the club honored Messi’s World Cup title when the 35-year-old Argentina captain returned to the club. It seems to hint at the fractured relationship between Mbappe and Messi.
Those are the latest developments in the context that Mbappe is said to have a feud with teammate Neymar. Mbappe and Neymar had a disagreement over who should take the penalty kick for PSG in a Ligue 1 match at the start of the season.
Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and now playing for PSG intervened to avoid further friction between Mbappe and Neymar. Coach Galtier also held a first-team meeting in which both superstars were reprimanded. However, it does not solve the situation when their relationship is increasingly uncomfortable and somewhat forced.

Recently, Kylian Mbappe also refused to commit his future to PSG even though he had just signed a 3-year contract extension. When asked by the media regarding this issue before the 2022 World Cup finals, Mbappe answered bluntly: “Currently, I’m going to have a second World Cup. After that, I don’t know.”
