Today music has become an additional companion for many people. Some use it to combat stress or exercise, others listen to it while they are working or doing household activities.

In fact, some studies indicate that music can influence weight loss and eating.

The type of melody that is heard can lead to behaviors that benefit health, or on the contrary, that do not.

According to a study by The Journal of the Academy Marketing Science, it is mentioned that when listening to slow and low-volume music, people tend to choose healthy foods, but if music is listened to at a fast pace and at high volume, the choice of food changes to one with more calories and unhealthy.

In addition, there are other additional factors that are complemented by music when choosing food at different times of the day. As Appetite magazine points out, these include “the perception and evaluation of food, individual and cultural differences, and external environmental factors such as background music, smell, and visual impression.”

On the other hand, a BBC Trust me documentary, I’m a Doctor, in which they conducted experiments on people, indicates that there are benefits of listening to music when exercising.

The test results revealed that those who listened to music while doing the activity burned more body fat than those who simply did it without music.

Regarding the above, Women’s Health magazine says that according to an experiment carried out by Brunel University in London, the beats per minute (BPM) of a song (its speed) can influence training.

For this reason, they recommend songs of 120 BPM for aerobic exercises, from 110 to 128 BPM for strength exercises, and from 160 BPM onwards for cardiovascular exercises.
