Still on an upward trend, the inflation rate in Tunisia reached 8.6% at the end of August 2022 against 8.2% in July, 8.1% in June and 7.8% in May, the National Institute indicated on Monday Statistics (INS).

In a note on the Consumer Price Index for August 2022, the same source explained this upward trend, in particular by the soaring food prices (11.9% against 11% in July ), as well as the rise in the prices of educational products and services (10% against 9.8% in July).

Over one year, the prices of manufactured products increased by 8.8% following the rise in prices of building materials by 9.3% and clothing products by 10.2%, the INS said.

Excluding food and energy, the inflation rate rose from 6.8% in July to 7.1% in August. The prices of free products (not supervised) evolved by 9.8% over one year while those of supervised products increased by 5%.
