The head of the Brovar district state administration Volodymyr Maibozhenko will be released following today’s road accident, as a result of which people were injured. The police have already detained him and opened criminal proceedings.
On the dismissal of Maibozhenko reported on Friday, April 26, the head of Kyiv OVA Ruslan Kravchenko.
“This is the only correct step following the terrible incident that happened in Brovary and as a result of which 4 people were injured. In particular, 3 adults and one child. The victims are provided with all necessary assistance, primarily medical,” Kravchenko wrote.
He also added:
“Similar behavior of an official is unacceptable! I appeal to the law enforcement officers to provide a proper legal assessment of this event as soon as possible. I insist on an objective, impartial investigation and fair punishment. I will keep the situation under personal control.”
The day before, information began to appear on local social networks that near the Zavod Poroshinka stop in Brovary, the driver lost control and drove into a pedestrian zone and a flowerbed. Later, eyewitnesses reported that a man in a Volvo drove into a crowd of people at a pedestrian crossing.
Later, the National Police of Ukraine also responded to the accident. According to law enforcement officers, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 286-1 – violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is noted that the check on the device “Drager” on the alcohol content of the driver showed 2.31 ppm. The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
“Preliminarily it is known that the official of the district military administration did not stop at the traffic light prohibiting signal and hit pedestrians. As a result, four people received injuries of varying severity. A child is among the victims,” the National Police reported.
