The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma awarded the Guard of Honor to Virat Kohli

On the second day of the first Test once morest Sri Lanka at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali on Saturday, the Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma awarded the Guard of Honor to senior Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who scored 574/8 in the first innings. Later, when captain Rohit declared the innings, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami batted for 175 runs.

When India came down to field in the first innings, the entire team lined up to give the Guard of Honor in recognition of the 100th Test match of Kohli’s international career. As Kohli walked towards the ground, the Indian batsman saw the gestures of his teammates and put a smile on his face and later shook hands with his successor Rohit.
On the first day, Kohli scored 45 off 76 balls with Hanuma Vihari scoring 90 runs. In the 44th over, Kohli might not change the big score in the first innings as Sri Lankan spinner Lasith Embuldenia cleared the stumps. Kohli hit five fours at a strike rate of 59.21.

After the end of the first day’s play, the former Indian captain admitted that he was disappointed in playing a big tongue. Kohli said he wants to get his team up and running.
Earlier in the day, Jadeja, who continued his overnight score of 45, took the Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners with his free batting. Jadeja scored 175 * with 17 fours and three sixes. The Saurashtra batsman got a good chance to reach his maiden double century in Test cricket but Rohit decided to declare the innings.
