If there is a cut in players’ fees, this will be the last step from us: the Indian Cricket Board

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is in jeopardy this year due to the corona virus, due to which the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) is afraid of a loss of more than 530 million dollars.

It should be noted that the famous Indian cricket league IPL 2020, which has been going on for the past 12 years, was supposed to start from March 29, but due to Corona, the matches of the first league were postponed to April 15 and then indefinitely.

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhamal says that if the 13th edition of IPL does not take place this year, it may cost the cricket board 530 million dollars (about 40 billion Indian rupees) or more.

Arun Dhamal said that like other countries, BCCI also wants to start cricket activities, but it requires permission from the government and we hope that we will be able to hold this tournament this year itself.

It should be noted that IPL is one of the most expensive and profitable cricket leagues in the world and the Indian Cricket Board earns a large amount of income through it. According to a report, the total value of IPL last year was 6.7 billion dollars, while only the Indian channel Star Sports has bought the broadcast rights of IPL for 5 years till 2022 for more than 220 million dollars, of which 400 million dollars. Earnings are targeted.

Arun Dhamal further said that in the current situation, the cricket board is not thinking of cutting the players’ salaries, but currently we are assessing how much we will lose and if there is a cut in the salaries, it will be the last step on our part. It is believed that the number of people affected by the corona virus in India has exceeded 71 thousand, while 2 thousand 310 people have died. Like the rest of the world, India is under lockdown till May 14 to prevent the spread of Corona, which is likely to be extended again.
