The independence of the Central Bank is necessary

The governor and presidential candidate, Juan Schiaretti, met this Wednesday with the Association of Banks of Argentina (ABA), represented by its president Claudio Cesario and members of the board of directors.

Within this framework, the Cordovan president, who has been proposing a “front of fronts” at the national level, marked differences with the libertarian presidential candidate, Javier Milei, who grew the most in the polls, who proposes to directly eliminate the Central Bank.

“The independence of the Central Bank is necessary,” Schiaretti reaffirmed, before the directors of the main Argentine banks.

With a more political tone in his message to the bankers, the provincial president and presidential candidate insisted that the next government must be a coalition one.

“Argentina can only get out of these long years of decadence if the forces that want production and work are capable of establishing a common program” and added that “Argentina needs a coalition government that allows our country to move accordingly, and be a normal country.

Schiaretti was accompanied at the meeting with bankers by the national deputy Carlos Gutiérrez and the economist Diego Bossio.

In addition to the meeting with the bankers, Governor Schiaretti met this Wednesday with national leaders who make up his space, such as the former governor of Salta, Juan Manuel Urtubey, and national deputies Florencio Randazzo and Alejandro “Topo” Rodríguez.

The latter is a leader very close to the former Minister of Economy, Roberto Lavagna.

Schiaretti has been arguing for a couple of weeks that a broader opposition coalition should be formed, which includes presidential candidates such as Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and the radicals Facundo Manes and Gerardo Morales.

“The coalition should be made up of pre-candidates who have spoken out against the crack that is doing the country so much harm,” Schiaretti said. It is a way to exclude Patricia Bullrich from this possible agreement.

In the national space led by Schiaretti, not everyone agrees with agreeing with pre-candidates from Together for Change.

For example, Urtubey, the other presidential candidate in this space who still has no name, has publicly said that this new set up should have nothing to do with the Frente de Todos, but neither with Juntos por el Cambio.

Days of definitions are coming in this space, since June 14 is the deadline for the presentation of alliances for the Presidential Steps on August 13.

Some leaders of Together for Change have said that they could talk about an agreement with Schiaretti, after the Paso. But the Cordovan president has been conclusive: the electoral agreements must be given before the Primaries.
