Young people also ‘pass’ from the independence movement

A phenomenon similar to that of TV3 – converted over the last decade into a tool with a clear bias in favor of process and the parties that promote it – also occurs in the independence movement in general.

According to a recent survey by Òmnium Cultural, those under 25 years of age in Catalonia are much more concerned regarding issues that affect them, such as the precariousness of the market labor or the difficulty in accessing a living placethat in the secession of Catalonia and the whims of identity and patriotic of its leaders.

According to the study by the ultranationalist entity, based on 900 interviews with people between 18 and 65 years old in December, young people are the sector of the population least favorable to a Catalonia separated from the rest of Spain, and those who perceive a lower usefulness in the use of Catalan.

When asked regarding support for secession in general, the Òmnium survey gives a technical tie of 38% between supporters and detractors. But, among the youngest, those who are in favor of breaking with the rest of Spain fall to 31%.

Young people between 18 and 25 years old are, in fact, those who identify most with Spain, with a 4.9 out of 10, compared to the global average of 3.9, according to the ultranationalist entity. Likewise, pro-independence parties also have less support among young people than among adults.
