ALGIERS- The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni received, on Thursday in Algiers, the parliamentary delegation of the Land of Bavaria (Germany), with which he discussed trade cooperation relations and opportunities to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.
During his meeting with the German parliamentary delegation led by the President of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria, Mr. Thomas Kreuzer, in the presence of the German Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Zitouni reviewed “the relations of commercial cooperation and opportunities to increase the volume of trade between Algeria and Germany, as well as the partnership projects that can be concluded”, indicates a press release from the ministry.
The Minister reaffirmed, on this occasion, “the importance of cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Germany, which is considered a true partner”, highlighting the new measures aimed at facilitating foreign investment in Algeria. provided for by the new investment law, adds the same source.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, Mr. Zitouni indicated that “the talks focused on the means of developing economic relations between Algeria and Germany with a view to raising them to the level of policies”, expressing “the will of the German delegation to inquire closely regarding investment opportunities in Algeria”.
Referring to more than 60 German companies operating in Algeria, the minister insisted on “the importance of the Algerian market as a promising market and a gateway to Africa”.
The German side has proposed two types of investments, he said. These are “large investments in the automotive industry (vehicles and trucks), as well as investments in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), he said, adding that “it has been agreed to support the development of economic relations between the two countries”.
The head of the German delegation, for his part, declared that his visit to Algeria underlines “the desire to consolidate bilateral Algerian-German relations”, showing the interest of companies in his country to invest in Algeria as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, he stressed that the Land of Bavaria, represented by the parliamentary delegation, was “not only an important industrial site in Germany, but also one of the richest regions”.
He, at the same time, highlighted “the quality of the Algerian-German relations which will be further strengthened in the future in several sectors, in particular that of Energy”.
As a reminder, the German parliamentary delegation began a four-day visit to Algeria on Tuesday, during which the delegation will have talks with several ministers and officials.
