A total of 2,331 people positive for coronavirus (+17%) are currently hospitalized, including 124 patients treated in intensive care (+35%), according to figures from the Sciensano Public Health Institute updated Tuesday morning.

Between July 9 and July 15, 7,088 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day, a drop of 8% compared to the previous week.

Over the same period, 11 people died per day on average while they were carrying the virus (+43%), bringing the death toll to 32,089 since the start of the pandemic in Belgium.

Nearly 20,500 tests on average were also carried out daily, for a positivity rate of 36.9%.

The reproduction rate of the virus is 1.05 (-8%). When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic tends to accelerate. The incidence, which provides the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 894 over 14 days.
