Me Clédor Ciré Ly was seriously injured following being sprayed by an unknown gas while he was with his client Ousmane Sonko and Guy Marius Sagna. Last night, he was able to leave Dakar to be evacuated to France where he will undergo medical examinations to identify the gas. His family is very concerned for him, but released a statement to give an update.

“For the past few days we have not stopped receiving calls, messages from relatives, friends and acquaintances. We would like to thank all those who took the trouble to call or write to us to inquire regarding Master Ly’s health. He is doing better and will soon be ready to put the dress back on to do what he knows how to do best, defend the oppressed and fight once morest injustice whatever the forces in front.
He was transported by the ambulance from the clinic where he was hospitalized to go to France to continue his treatment and do an in-depth analysis in order to determine exactly the composition of the gas he inhaled and which caused him to was in an advanced state of fatigue. We specify that this is not a medical evacuation.

Given the fatigue, headaches and dizziness to which he was subject, he benefited from the assistance of the clinic, which simply helped him complete the check-in and boarding formalities at the airport from where he continued the journey alone. He hopes very soon to leave for another destination where his work awaits him. His family is well aware of the struggle and has come to develop a certain resilience in the face of the hardships associated with their work. Only the almighty might shake us. We thank you.”
