Abu Dhabi, 17th September / WAM / The Third Abu Dhabi Neurology Conference, which concluded its activities, recommended the necessity of having a specialized medical team in the country’s hospitals to treat stroke patients within three and a half hours and activating cooperation and coordination between emergency and ambulance departments to transfer cases as quickly as possible.
The doctors stressed the importance of expansion and maximum benefit on the part of doctors and the prescription of modern medications for the prevention and treatment of migraines, which have proven 90% effective, and most of the modern medications have been registered in the Emirates.
Professor Suhail Mohammed Abdullah Al-Roken, Consultant Neurologist at Rashid Hospital and Head of the Emirates Neurology Division at the Emirates Medical Association, said that the conference in its third session focused on the importance of activating rehabilitation and occupational therapy for patients with multiple sclerosis using magnetic frequency waves in cases of psychological disorders, fear, and chronic pain in patients with multiple sclerosis. Which has proven its efficiency in treating many patients. With regard to muscular dystrophy, the conference noted the approval of a new drug by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), where studies have proven the effectiveness of this new drug in treating muscular dystrophy.
Dr. Naji Riachi, Consultant Neurologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Chairman of the Conference, confirmed the conference’s success in providing Emirati doctors and medical college students, as well as medical specialists and professionals in the fields of neurology, with everything new and access to the latest studies and research in various medical specialties related to nerves, pointing out that The conference stressed the importance of expanding research and studies of brain diseases within the country and achieving maximum benefit in this aspect.
He expressed his appreciation to the UAE for quickly registering modern medicines, as the UAE is one of the first countries to adopt the registration of modern medicines once they are approved in America and Europe, in addition to attracting senior doctors and experts in various medical specialties and benefiting from their knowledge in supporting the health system within the country.
For her part, Dr. Kholoud Al-Lahham, a resident physician in the Department of Brain and Neurology at Rashid Hospital in Dubai, confirmed that the hospital uses the latest radiological and magnetic resonance imaging technologies that enable doctors to determine the location of the stroke with extreme accuracy, and this is of great importance in making the appropriate decision for treatment, noting that the department works around the clock.
