Roman Shirokov spoke regarding the state funding of Russian sports.
“If you remove public money, there will be no sport in the country. The question is, for what purpose the money is allocated, how to spend it.
The tournament of the Second League, in my opinion, is a tournament of managers who will look for talents, develop and sell higher. But now in the Second League there is no institution of selling players at all. It is possible that a player can be sold to the First League, conditionally, for a million rubles, which is not so significant with a budget of 30 million.
Nobody wants to pay the Second League for players, there is an opinion that the league is already subsidized, and your task is to train players, and then give them to the FNL for free. I got the impression that the system is built this way: you are given budgets, you master them, and we will take the best players and, perhaps, condescend to pay, ”said the former captain of the Russian national team, who played for Zenit, Spartak , CSKA and Krasnodar.
Shirokov now holds the post of general director of Saturn, which plays in the Second League.
