The Impact of Vitamin B12 Deficiency on Chronic Fatigue and Energy Levels: A Comprehensive Guide

The deficiency of a certain vitamin leads to such consequences.

One of the unobvious causes of chronic fatigue and lack of energy is vitamin B12 deficiency, according to physician Rachel Ward and nutritionist Louise Pyne. Their opinion leads The Sun.

Ward noted that vitamin B12 is necessary for the production of red blood cells and nerve cells, and is also involved in the functioning of the immune system.

“Deficiency leads to neurological symptoms such as numbness, imbalance, confusion and an abnormal tingling sensation,” she said.

According to Ward, people who lack B12 often complain of fatigue and lethargy. This is due to a lack of red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body.

Louise Pyne added that a person needs 1.5 milligrams of B12 daily to feel good. Usually the body receives this dose from food – meat, fish and dairy products.

According to her, deficiency most often occurs in the elderly due to the fact that in old age the body absorbs vitamins worse, as well as in people whose diet consists mainly of plant foods.

The healthiest and most balanced diet is the Mediterranean diet. See the gallery to see what products are included in its basis:
