Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban pointed out that “the so-called “Ukrainian grains” are nothing but a long-standing American commercial product, as they are grown on lands owned by American companies,” pointing out that “Brussels does not yet want to extend the ban on importing them.” Ukrainian grain to border countries because it defends American interests by not extending the ban on grain imports to EU countries bordering Ukraine.”

The moratorium on the sale of agricultural land, which had been in effect in Ukraine for 20 years, was voluntarily lifted, and in July 2021, the authorities expected that the economic impact of launching the land market would reach several billion dollars in the first five years.

Poland has threatened to unilaterally violate EU rules and ban grain imports from Ukraine if Brussels does not extend restrictions on Ukrainian agricultural products until the end of the year.

At the end of last March, five European countries neighboring Ukraine (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia) submitted a request to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to intervene in the crisis resulting from the influx of Ukrainian grain.
