Jakarta –
There is an interesting story that happened in the production process of Sylvester Stallone’s film titled Rocky 3 in 1982. He claimed that in order to form a perfect body in the film, he was forced to go on a dangerous diet that made his memory disturbed.
In his interview with WSJ, Sylvester Stallone admitted that it was difficult to lose weight so he was forced to go on an extreme diet that had an impact on his brain so that he forgot his own telephone number.
“I like coffee and I usually drink 10 cups of coffee per day. But when working on Rocky 3 I drank up to 25 cups of coffee per day. My breakfast menu is also very small, maybe only two oatmeal cookies and 10 cups of coffee because I want to cut my fat to 2.8%,” he said.
“I (become) forgetting a lot of things, not even my phone number. At that time I only ate tuna and my memory was disturbed until it was completely gone. I had all kinds of debilitating physical effects, because of that (diet) thing, ” he added.
In the film directed by himself, he once more played Rocky Balboa who fought once morest a young boxer who was famous for being ruthless in the ring, namely James Clubber Lang (Mr.T).
Previously Sylvester Stallone also became a topic of discussion because of the rivalry between him and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 80s. This competition also forced Arnold’s film Commando to change its storyline.
In an interview with Radio Times, Commando writer Steven E de Souza said that Arnold asked to change the storyline because he did not want to be outdone by Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo: First Blood Part II which was released in the same year.
That year, it was as if the public was presented with an epic duel from each of the world’s biggest action stars through their film, Commando vs Rambo II.
“I agree with Arnold (that this film will be a success). It was Rambo versus Commando and the two had a long rivalry, but Arnold predicted that people would still be talking regarding this film because it wasn’t taken seriously and was more self-aware. And Rambo takes himself very seriously. I blame Sylvester Stallone for messing up the ending (Commando),” he said.
He recounted how Rambo II made the film appear to be in disarray because of the competition. They do not want to lose with what is done Sylvester Stallone and spend the budget on things that are out of script.
“(Commando director) Mark L. Lester had a glimpse of Rambo II and he said Stallone killed a million people so we have to kill more people. So what happened is, Mark over budgeted on this gigantic scene where these private armies annihilated. Random shootings of hundreds of people weren’t in the script. So they blow the budget and then say we don’t have the money to film what you wrote.”
