Much of the discussion surrounding Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard King revolves around how it will affect consumers. We rarely hear from other publishers and game developers, but Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has now shared his thoughts on the merger. “I think it’s good news that the deal went through because it really shows the power of IP and where the industry is going. So there’s a lot of opportunity going forward for all companies,” Guillemot said on the earnings call. “It also shows the value of IP, which can now be on consoles and PCs, but also on mobile, and become more of a global brand — and when we say global, it’s really everywhere — it’s a fantastic opportunity.” To add to that, and touch on the merged King and mobile parts further, Guillemot said: “Microsoft said the mobile part of the Activision deal was important, so all the investments we’ve made to get stronger in mobile fit in with that, so all of these factors will help the company grow in value. Ubisoft is a publisher that isn’t afraid to get into the mobile gaming market, as in this fiscal year alone, it appears to have launched Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, The Division Resurgence and Rainbow Six Mobile .Do you agree with Ubisoft on the merger?
