Alaa Ezz, Secretary-General of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, revealed his opinion on the campaigns calling for a boycott of some foreign products and companies on the grounds of their support for Israel in the Gaza war.

He said during an intervention with the journalist Lamees Al-Hadidi on the “One Last Word” program broadcast on the “on” channel: “We, as the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, worked with the Islamic Chamber as a fund to support Palestine, and a large portion of the convoys are coming from us, and there is no doubt regarding our support for the Palestinian people, but we also support Egypt.” “.

He stressed that the revenues of companies carrying international brands do not constitute one in a thousand of the revenues of large companies.

He continued: “Even if all activities in the Arab world were closed, they would not feel it, and therefore the punitive aspect would not have a tangible effect. The evidence is that the shares of the boycotting companies rose by rates of 15-20%.

He explained that the food industry sector alone employs more than 3 million workers directly and indirectly.

He said: “Every worker in every company has ten others in other industries in production cycles, and the share of the Egyptian or Arab investor and the companies serving them constitutes 95% of the revenues.”

He continued: “A mosquito bit me in my hand and I went to boycott my hand while we are in an unenviable economic situation. If a boycott had to happen, why don’t you boycott Facebook and Twitter, even though their owners are among the biggest supporters of Israel?”
