The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved this Wednesday the reformulation of the Extended Facilities agreement with Argentina and will disburse US$ 7,500 million dollars, according to official sources.
Following this announcement, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, will meet with the head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva.
The meeting will evaluate how the operation is completed of repayment of the credits that Argentina received to pay the maturities of July 31 and August 4.
Of the US$ 7,500 million that Argentina receives, US$ 1.7 billion must repay CAF, US$ 1 billion in SDRs to Qatarwhile it must also replace some US$ 1,000 million of the current swap with China that were also used.
In the followingnoon, Massa will give a press conference in which he will offer the details of the operations. The conference is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Yesterday the minister blamed the IMF for the soaring inflation following the requirement to apply a devaluation to approve today’s disbursement.
