With the participation of 38 clubs from Maturín, three from the Piar municipality, three from Cedeño and three from Libertador; this Thursday, July 11, the III State Soccer Championship 2024 “Copa AFEM” was inaugurated in Monagas, at the Alexander “Comanche” Bottini stadium of the Maturín Sports Center.
Carlos Córcida, president of the Monagas State Football Association (AFEM), highlighted that more than a thousand children and young people will participate in the tournament, which will run until mid-August.
“We would especially like to thank Governor Ernesto Luna and Indem for their support in holding this tournament, which we are organizing for the third consecutive year.”said.
With the stands of the “Comanche” packed and the participation of artistic and cultural groups, the event also included the presence of former professional soccer players, such as Alexis “El Tanque” Acuña and José “Cheo” Fasciana, who agreed in praising the work of developing this discipline in the entity and the emotion of seeing so many children and young people united by sport.
The championship will be played from the Under-6 to the Under-20 category, and in addition to the “Comanche”, it will take place on fields such as the Fariñas School, in Los Guaritos; Primero de Mayo, El Silencio, El Paraíso, La Victoria and Los Iraníes, with games every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
