The identity of the woman who served as a close assistant to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been revealed.
At a closed plenary meeting on the 28th, Rep. Yoo Sang-beom, a member of the National Assembly’s intelligence committee, and Yoon Gun-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, received a report on recent issues related to North Korea from the National Jeongbongwon at a briefing. The person is Hong Yun-mi, who worked as a drummer in the Moranbong Band for two years from 2016 to 2018.”
The two lawmakers continued, “The NIS also confirmed that he was a performer at the time of the Panmunjom summit and was in charge of sending and receiving goods and documents.”
He added, “It is understood that he has participated in the role of assistant to the protocol, not replacing Hyon Song-wol, the deputy head of the Labor Party.”
Earlier, an unidentified woman was caught at the 74th anniversary of the establishment of the North Korean regime (September 9) held at the foot of Mansudae in Pyongyang on the 8th of last month and attracted attention.
According to a video released by Chosun Central TV at the time, the woman in a black suit was wearing glasses and her long hair was tied in half.
This woman watched the scene while guarding Chairman Kim from a close distance as he waved greetings to the attendees at the celebration. He even sat right behind Kim Yo-jong, the younger brother of Chairman Kim Jong-un, and vice-president of the Workers’ Party of Korea, when the celebratory performance began. Next to him was Hyon Song-wol, deputy head of the Labor Party.
