The leaders of Newell’s and a group of businessmen from Rosario they are betting that the former player and ex-rojinegro coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino will lead the team next year, after the end of his relationship with the Mexican team after the World Cup in Qatar.
Close associates of the board of directors of the Parque Independencia club said this Wednesday that “The idea is that Tata Martino comes to direct after the World Cup”. It so happens that he is currently directing the Mexican soccer team and would have already decided to leave the position, a situation that opens the chance for Newell’s.
And they added: “He is at a stage of his life in which he is done economically and in which he wants to enjoy his grandson, his children and his wife, situations that can play in favor so that he comes to manage Newell’s after the World Cup”they were excited.
“There is a group of businessmen close to Martino and the leaders of Newell’s who support his arrival and would provide funds for this project,” added sources from the leprous board of directors regarding the operative return of the only club figure to meet the double condition of being champion both in his career as a player and as a technical director.
Martino, who will turn 60 on November 20, is one of the biggest idols in Newell’s history.
