Defense attorney Kimberly Norquay Evans said the extent of the damage was acknowledged. The lawyer told the court that he was sorry for what had happened. But the court did not accept any of the arguments of the lawyer. The magistrate pointed out that no one would do such an act without sufficient reasons. The accused was just 17 years old at the time of the robbery. The court sentenced the young man to 12 months imprisonment as he was a minor. Eligible for parole following five months. According to an ABC News report, the suspect has no criminal records.
Recently, it was also in the news that a young man had a fight with his girlfriend and destroyed objects worth Rs 40 crore in an art museum. The incident took place in Dallas, USA. A young man named Brain Hernandez has caused more than 5 million dollars (approximately Rs. 38.85 crores) of damage. He was found vandalizing the valuable sculptures from the museum’s CCTV footage. The police had stated in the charge sheet that he entered each room and smashed the display cases and the items inside. He beats each one with a metal chair. He smashed a 6th-century Greek amphora and a vase from 450 BC.
Brian also destroyed the ‘Cylix Heracles and Nemeon Lion’ statue worth $100,000. He broke the statue of ‘Batta Kuhu Alligator Gar Fish’ using the sanitizer stand installed in the museum. The statue is worth $10,000. When the display case broke, Brian threw the statue to the floor and smashed it into pieces. In addition to the sculptures, Brian also destroyed other objects, including a laptop, monitor, phone, four Plexiglas display cases, and two wooden displays.
