It was shortly before one o’clock in the morning when the Meuse-Hesbaye police services were called for an intervention at The Hunter bar in Saint-Georges (rue Campagne du Moulin), following deliberate damage to vehicles where several people were said to be involved.

The Meuse-Hesbaye police arrived on the scene shortly following 1 a.m., with reinforcements from the Flémalle station. On the spot, the situation degenerates. Indeed, the manager of “The Hunter” is suspected of having beaten a policeman on several occasions, “without any obvious reason”, according to the local police.

“We want a reaction

The policeman did not let it go and used tear gas and a telescopic baton to subdue him and handcuff him. The skipper of “The Hunter” was injured in the right cheekbone and was transported to MontLégia. “The colleague, injured in the face and forearm, was transported to the Bois de l’Abbaye. Medical findings have been made and he will be off work for at least six days given his condition.»

Since its opening in 2019, this is not the first time that the establishment has been the scene of fights. “We have already had to intervene on the spot many times”, regrets Commissioner Dubois. “But this time, we have to act. We are going to send an administrative report to the mayor where we will ask for a real reaction, this is going too far. »

This Saturday morning, the owner of the cafe was released from the hospital and was deprived of his freedom. He should be referred to the prosecution this Sunday.

Acting Mayor Jean-Michel Rouffart was not informed of the facts.
