For the mayor, “there has already been a desire to humiliate me”. Almost arriving at his destination, a young man driving a white Berlingo blocks his way, and points his phone a few centimeters from the mayor’s face. “So, Mr. Mayor, are we drunk on motorbikes?” Jean Spinette pushes the curious man’s arm away, asking not to film him. The latter starts off with a bang and swerves causing the socialist to fall, who this time is injured in several places. He will file a complaint with the police a few hours later, and reserves the right to file a complaint for defamation against the author of the video taken a few hours earlier.
101 no longer responds
After charging the scooter, Jean Spinette returns to Bethlehem Square to try to talk with his attacker. In the meantime, he called 101, but they did not answer for several minutes. And in the mayor’s mind, the story takes a political turn. “I am on the front line, with too few police officers (…). Sometimes, I find myself acting alone, without a police officer.”
Because Jean Spinette guesses the profile of his attacker. “With the summer plan, we were more incisive on public disorder and street dealing. And since then, I have come across more and more young people who are quite hostile, who openly make fun of me.” Regarding the video shot a few hours earlier, the councilor is lucid. “As a local personality, you can no longer be yourself, you are likely to be subject to attacks, lies and fake news all the time.” Lucid, but not imperturbable, and his voice is filled with emotion when he makes the observation. “Soon, we will no longer have anyone to be mayor.”
