People who wish to observe the eclipse in a few months in a safe manner will be able to do so thanks to these glasses.
Without this protection, the retina can be permanently damaged within seconds from looking directly at the eclipse.
Each pair of glasses will cost the MRC $1 for a total of $4,000 plus taxes. It will be paid entirely by the Local and Regional Development Fund (FDLR).
Glasses that will not be used during the various events in the Haut-Saint-François municipalities will be reimbursed by the Mont-Mégantic National Park (PNMM).
The Haut-Saint-François territory will be right in the middle of the central band where it will be possible to see the total solar eclipse. (Archives)
Gatherings all over HSF territory
In April 2023, the members of the council of the MRC du Haut-Saint-François stated that they wanted as many municipalities on its territory to participate in this extremely rare phenomenon. They said they hoped to hold several activities around the eclipse in as many places as possible, a desire shared by the municipalities.
The distribution of these pairs of glasses was announced to help all municipalities hold their own local event.
Moreover, the PNMM is also organizing a special activity for the occasion. A number of visitors exceeding capacity is expected.
Reservations for the event at PNMM will launch on December 14 at 9 a.m.
