Asunción, IP Agency.- The Horqueta Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), in the department of Concepción, is reaching its final stage of construction with 95% overall progress.
Currently, in the optional lagoon work is progressing with the placement of the geotextile and the geomembrane, whose welding is done by fusion, according to the report from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
On the other hand, they completed the construction of the perimeter fence and the storm drainage channels. Likewise, within the treatment plant, paving is being carried out at the main entrance, soil profiling, compaction, debris removal, cleaning, etc.
This plant is designed to absorb the flow of sewage effluents from the seven neighborhoods of the city through the new pipes installed and covering 69 kilometers. The total number of beneficiaries with this service will be 16,000 people.
To date, 27,000 meters corresponding to basic networks have already been installed, as well as 45,000 meters of condominium networks.
These networks make up the wastewater collection system that will be sent to the future WWTP, the first of its kind that Horqueta will have. The connection of homes to the system will be informed by the Program’s Social team, through home visits to future users.
In this way, the quality of the water and its ecosystem, the environment of the channel and the quality of life of the population of Horqueta will be improved, generating a great positive impact on the health of the inhabitants in the short and long term, at the same time. time that contamination of groundwater will be avoided and protected.
To evaluate the impact of the treatment process on the stream, the WWTP will have a laboratory, from where a permanent monitoring process of water quality will be carried out.
An investment of G. 53,762,811,337 is estimated in this work, which is part of the Sanitation and Drinking Water Program for the Chaco and Intermediate Cities of the Eastern Region of Paraguay, financed with a donation from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for the Development (Aecid) and a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Sociedad Constructora Chaco SA is the contracting company under the supervision of Consorcio Alcantarillado Eastern Region and the supervision of the Coordination of Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hydraulic Works Projects (Capsoh), dependent on the Vice Ministry of Public Works.
