The moment of truth is approaching for laptop sales. After two years of an unexpected return to form followed by two other years of setbacks, the coming months will confirm or refute the astonishing return to favor of this device while many customers in the 2010s had given priority to tablets and to smartphones.
The latest forecasts point to a market recovery in 2024. While the research firm IDC observes volume sales falling by 13.8% in 2023 compared to 2022, its analysts have just published their projection and anticipate 3.4% increase next year. Even if all the institutes do not have quite the same definition of the market, they are in unison on the idea of a restart, notably Gartner (+4.9%) and Canalys (+8%).
