The Honda Civic It’s already in its eleventh generation but, as palace things go slowly, it hasn’t started to be sold in Europe yet and, more importantly, at the moment we only know the Civic Type R wrapped in camouflage. The good thing is that the previous one is not standing still: the Honda Civic Type R has achieved a new record.
This time it was in the The Bend Motor Park of Australia, specifically with a Type R Limited Edition and with Tony D’Alberto, TCR broker, at his command. Honda has published two videos, but we will save the promotional one to show you the full lap, which is the most interesting:
The result has been a time of 2:12.260which is almost two seconds faster than the previous fastest lap, which was recorded in 2019 (2.14:316).
The curious thing is that in the first instance the attempt was carried out with a “normal” Honda Civic Type R, which already achieved a better time than the established one, with 2:13.251. However, then they got down to it with the Limited Edition, which is slightly lighter and has racetrack specs. Thus, they lowered the time once more.
Tony D’Alberto stated: “The standard Civic Type R is beautifully balanced and a joy to drive on the track, while the Type R Limited Edition offers even more grip and speed, which really encourages you to keep going and try to get the perfect lap for the car. car”.
And he continues: “If the conditions had been cooler, I am confident that we might cut a few tenths more and even put the Type R Limited Edition in the group of 2 minutes and 11 seconds.
The only question now is whether this has been the last record of the previous generation of the Honda Civic Type R or yes, on the contrary, Honda still wants to “squeeze” him in some other circuit so that his shadow is even longer.
