The tax inspection services and the Dutch police raided the villa of the CEO of the supermarket chain Jumbo on Tuesday, Frits van Eerdauthorities said.
The search took place in Heeswijk-Dinther, in the Dutch province of North Brabant, with the consent of the public prosecutor. No details were provided on the causes of this action. “More information will be communicated during the day”, according to a spokesperson for the judicial authorities.
A search was also reportedly carried out at the administrative headquarters of Jumbo in Veghelselon le média néerlandais Het Financieele Dagblad.
According to Jumbo, however, the investigation does not focus on the supermarket chain.

In addition, the Dutch public prosecutor’s office also placed nine people under arrest warrant on Tuesday in a money laundering case. The CEO of Jumbo is one of the suspects, according to some media in the Netherlands. A spokesman for the supermarket chain declined to comment.
Jumbo is one of the biggest retail chains in the Netherlands and is also established in Flanders, with 21 supermarkets, making it the second largest Dutch distributor in our country. By the end of the year, Jumbo hopes to be able to open six other stores in Belgium to have a park of 27 supermarkets, all in the north of the country. The group also eyeing the French-speaking part, but no concrete project has yet been programmed. The brand also sponsors the Jumbo-Visma cycling team and Formula 1 driver and champion Max Verstappen.
The Dutch distributor recorded in the first half of 2022 a turnover of 5.46 billion euros, up 1.6% compared to last year. When publishing the results in July, the Dutch family group announced that it was maintaining its objective for 2022, namely cross the 10 billion euros turnover mark.
