Who are the highest paid players in the NFL? Many stars have made big pay jumps in 2023 and re-entered the market, but there are also some whose contracts from previous years are considered peak values for their positions.
A look at the “Highest Paid NFL Players by Position” list shows the importance of quarterbacks in the NFL.
The highest-paid player in the league at this position, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, is also the highest-paid player in the league, earning $51 million per season (yes, $51 million per season average annual salary).
Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams now makes $31.7 million per season, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback and highest-paid defenseman in the league.

Quarterback
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts tops the list with $51 million a year. Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets is second at $50.3 million a year. The Denver Broncos’ Russell Wilson is third with $49 million per season, and the Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray is fourth with $46.1 million. In fifth place is Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns with an average annual salary of $46 million.

Running Back – Highest Paid NFL Players
The San Francisco 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey tops the list with $16 million a year. Second is the New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara with $15 million per season. Followed by Tennessee Titans’ Derrick Henry with $12.5 million. The Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb lands fourth with $12.2 million per season and Bengals RB Joe Mixon rounds out the top five with $12 million.
Wide Receiver
Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins tops the list with $30 million a year.
Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams is second at $28 million per season, followed by Los Angeles Rams’ Cooper Kupp with an average annual salary of $26.7 million. AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles ranks fourth with $25 million. Stefon Diggs and DK Metcalf share fifth place with $24 million a year.
Tight End
New York Giants’ Darren Waller tops the list with $17 million a year.
Second is the San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle with $15 million per season, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce with $14.3 million.
Philadelphia Eagles’ Dallas Goedert is fourth with an average annual salary of $14.25 million, followed by Baltimore Ravens’ Mark Andrews with $14 million.
Offensive Line
The Houston Texans’ Laremy Tunsil tops the list with $25 million a season. Second is Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers with $23.01 million a year.
Green Bay Packers’ David Bakhtiari is third at $23 million per season. The Atlanta Falcons’ Chris Lindstrom is fourth with an average annual salary of $20.5 million, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lane Johnson with $20.2 million.

Cornerback
Green Bay Packers’ Jaire Alexander tops the list with $21 million a year. The Cleveland Browns’ Denzel Ward is second at $20.1 million per season, followed by the Miami Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey at $20 million.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey is fourth with an average annual salary of $19.5 million, followed by the New Orleans Saints’ Marshon Lattimore with $19.4 million.
Edge Rusher
Pittsburgh Steelers’ TJ Watt tops the list with $28 million a year.
Los Angeles Chargers’ Joey Bosa is second at $27 million per season, ahead of Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett at $25 million.
The Chargers’ Khalil Mack is fourth with an average annual salary of $23.5 million, tied with the Las Vegas Raiders’ Maxx Crosby.
Defensive Lineman – Highest-Paid NFL Players
Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams tops the list with $31.7 million a year.
Tennessee Titans’ Jeffrey Simmons is second with $23.5 million, while Washington Commanders’ Daron Payne is third with $22.5 million.

Fourth is San Francisco 49ers’ Javon Hargrave with an average annual salary of $21 million, tied with New York Giants’ Leonard Williams and Indianapolis Colts’ DeForest Buckner.
Linebacker
The Baltimore Ravens’ Roquan Smith tops the list with $20 million a year.
In second place is the Indianapolis Colts’ Shaquille Leonard with $19.7 million per season, followed by the San Francisco 49ers’ Fred Warner with $19 million.
Tremaine Edmunds of the Chicago Bears is fourth with $18 million, while CJ Mosley of the New York Jets is fifth with an average annual salary of $17 million.
