The highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time

SEGA is proud to announce: The sequel to “Sonic the Hedgehog” is the most successful video game adaptation ever.

Via the official website informed SEGA about the success of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”. The film adaptation of the blue hedgehog started in German cinemas on March 31 and has truly been able to break records since then.

Success of the predecessor exceeded

In fact, it’s the highest-grossing video game adaptation ever, grossing an impressive $331.64 million. The record of the first film ($319.71 million) was surpassed. The adventure of Sonic and Tails was able to climb the cinema charts in 47 countries. These include the United States, where almost 149 million dollars have already been taken.

Other countries where it was enough for the first place: Australia, France and Great Britain. It didn’t make it to the top in Mexico and Brazil, but the film has strong numbers there too. Incidentally, in Japan, citizens have to wait until August 19th.

SEGA set the first record shortly after the film started. Thanks to brought in $ 72 million in the first three days, the previous high of $ 58 million was clearly exceeded. With that, those responsible have the most successful start of a video game adaptation laid down.
