The higher the electricity bills, the more the head of Latvenergo earns

Last year, the Chairman of the Board of JSC Latvenergo, Mārtiņš Čakste, received a salary of 201,007 euros, which is 32.4% more than in 2022, according to the official declaration for 2023 he submitted.

Last year, Čakste also sold real estate for 325,000 euros and received 7,627 euros from business and commercial activities.

The declaration also indicates other income from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development in the amount of 4,000 euros, as well as from the Riga Technical University in the amount of 652 euros.

At the end of 2023, Čakste had accumulated 11,491 euros in the non-cash Swedbank Open Pension Fund, 7,686 euros in Swedbank and 2,632 euros in the First Closed Pension Fund. He had accumulated 20,000 euros in cash.

The debt, which exceeds 20 minimum monthly salaries set by the Cabinet of Ministers, amounted to EUR 196,813 for the Chairman of the Board of Latvenergo at the end of 2023.

At the end of last year, Čakste owned an apartment in Riga, a house in Sigulda region, and real estate in Sigulda region. Čakste also rented an apartment in Riga at the end of last year.

According to the information provided in the declaration, Čakste bought an apartment worth 463,000 euros last year. At the same time, Čakste took out a mortgage loan of 200,000 euros last year.
