A more efficient CPU and somewhat more powerful cores
As far as the CPU is concerned, it will have a main core high-performance up to 3.2 GHz power with ARM Cortex-X3 architecture, accompanied by 4 performance cores additional up to 2.8 GHz and 3 2 GHz efficiency coresto finish.
Compared to the Snapdragon Gen1, we would not have a significant improvement in speed but a new architecture and greater efficiencywhich will be approximately 25% more efficient than the previous generation.
The Adreno 740 will improve its performance by 25%
The CPU is accompanied by an updated GPU Adreno 740which will have a 25% more performance and it will be more efficient than its previous generation. The Adreno 740 will support real-time Ray Tracing hardware acceleration and will also include support for HDR gaming and the latest gaming technology APIs.
With these changes, Qualcomm wants to continue trying to lead the gaming market on mobile devices, bringing more than good performance to most of the games that come out today. Definitely, a step forward in the mobile gaming industry.
New 5G modem and Wi-Fi improved to reach 10Gbps
One of the most interesting changes announced in the new processor is the new modem Snapdragon X70 5G. This new modem will be able to support the 5G DSDA standard, which translates into download speeds of up to 10Gbps and rises of up to 3.5Gbps.
As for Wi-Fi, the new top of the range will have the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 system, a technology that supports Wi-Fi 7 with speeds of pico de 5.8 Gbps in the 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac and 802.11a/b/g/n standards. The bands that you can use are those of 5 y 6 GHz with a bandwidth between 20 and 160 MHz.
Substantial improvement in AI and camera for Gen2
The Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will have an update to its AI processing core or Qualcomm Hexagon Processor with which it would have 4.35 times more power than the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen1.
Regarding the photographic section, the new processor will be able to support photographic lenses of up to 200 megapixelswith up to configurations of triple cameras of 36 megapixels at 30 FPS, dual cameras of 64 + 36 megapixels at 30 FPS or up to 108 megapixels no response time when taking the picture.
Regarding the video section, the processor will be able to capture videos of hasta 8K HDR a 30 FPS o 4K a 120 FPS, which means an important advance in this aspect, which will greatly improve video processing in our terminals. You can also deal with videos 8k without problems, a leap for what will be the screens of the future in mobile terminals.
4K a 60Hz, HDR10+ y Dolby Vision
As for display support, we’re in luck because the new chip will support resolutions of 4K at 60Hz and QHD+ up to 144Hzalso having support for external displays up to 4K at 60 Hz and 10-bit color depth, with Dolby Vision and a technology for compensation for OLED displays.
