The High Council of Communication and MINUSCA co-organize a workshop on peace journalism –

BANGUI, Central African Republic, September 25, 2024 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- On September 24, 2024, the High Council of Communication, in collaboration with MINUSCA, organized in Bangui an awareness workshop on the importance of journalism. peace with a view to peaceful local elections, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Peace. This activity brought together more than thirty media professionals as well as students from the information and communication sciences department of the University of Bangui.

In his opening remarks, the president of the High Council of Communication, José Richard Pouambi, reaffirmed the commitment of this institution to “play its role in the implementation of actions aimed at definitively restoring peace, in particular by strengthening the capacities of information and communication professionals”. He insisted on the responsibility of media professionals, who “is manifested in the content of daily productions, guaranteeing citizens justice and respect for their rights by providing them with truthful and essential information to awaken national consciousness ».


Guy Karema, representative of the strategic communication and public information service of MINUSCA, for his part, stressed that peace journalism is not only a journalistic approach, but also a commitment to the community and a act of responsibility. “In a context often marked by violence, conflict and division, our voice can become a powerful vector for change. We have the power to tell stories that promote understanding, dialogue and reconciliation”he declared.
