The Hidden Details of Soviet Winnie the Pooh: Uncovering the Animation Secrets

2024-01-20 07:50:00

Winnie the Pooh is one of our favorite childhood heroes. We are, naturally, talking regarding the domestic adaptation of the works of Alan Alexander Milne. Of course, Disney’s Winnie is much more global. And it has more seasons on TV, and is known all over the world (and is even banned in some countries). But ours is more soulful, or something.

We know the Soyuzmultfilm trilogy by heart. Many quotes from the characters instantly went viral. And rewatching this cartoon is always a joy.

But something still escaped the attention of many viewers. The Soviet Winnie the Pooh has two physiological features that you don’t immediately notice. If you pay at all.

First, the ear. Vinnie’s left ear is oddly shaped and doesn’t look at all like his right ear. As if someone had crushed it.

And this is no coincidence. The fact is that when creating the image, Soviet animators took the task at hand very seriously. Vinny just likes to sleep on his left side. Therefore, it is logical that his left ear is a little dented.

The second feature of the bear is its gait.

Have you noticed anything strange? Vinny’s right leg and right arm move in unison. Usually no one walks like this, as it is unnatural. But there are no excuses here – this is a mistake by the animators. But following reviewing the material, it was decided to leave everything as it is. According to the creators, such a gait can give Winnie the Pooh a certain charm.

It’s a pity, of course, that not everyone notices such details. After all, watching a cartoon would be even more interesting. Although even so it remains a masterpiece.
