Few people think regarding this, but the kitchen is one of the most traumatic places in every apartment or house. While cooking, each person first of all runs the risk of cutting his hand, so you need to use the knife carefully and when it falls, in no case try to catch it with your hand. Also in the kitchen, people often get high degree burns because hot oil is often used in cooking. Perhaps everyone knows regarding these risks, but some people do not even realize that even teapots, cups and plates can be dangerous. And all because some of them are made from materials that can release harmful substances into food. Using them, you can not only suffer greatly from food poisoning, but also die from serious diseases like cancer. Are you ready to find out which dishes you should get rid of as soon as possible?
The danger of dishes from the times of the USSR
Soviet tableware can be very beautiful – teapots, cups and plates are usually decorated with stunning patterns. Therefore, many still keep grandmother’s tea sets in the closet, and some use them for their intended purpose.
In fact, no matter how beautiful Soviet dishes are, it is better not to take them out of the closet and keep them in your kitchen. This is especially true for porcelain dishes – most cups and plates are covered with paint, which contains lead and cadmium. When such utensils are just standing idle, they do no harm. But as soon as it warms up, toxic substances begin to be released into food, then penetrating into the human body.
Lead is dangerous because it has the ability to accumulate in the brain, liver, kidneys and bones of a person. With prolonged use of porcelain dishes from the times of the USSR, it can accumulate even in the teeth. The accumulation of this metal usually leads to high blood pressure, impaired kidney function, abnormalities in the development of the child in the womb, and other serious consequences. Severe lead poisoning can cause convulsions, coma, and even death.
Cadmium is also a heavy metal, and its fumes pose a health risk. When toxic compounds are inhaled, a person’s respiratory organs, kidneys, bones and organs of the gastrointestinal tract are damaged.

Clay handmade dishes
Some people’s kitchens also contain handmade pottery. Beautiful vases and jugs can be very expensive for all family members, but you also need to be careful with them. The clay from which such dishes are made cannot cause great harm to human health, but the paint applied on top of it is still capable of this. When using dishes, it exfoliates and enters the digestive tract. As a result, people may develop stomach ache or other digestive problems – all individually.
There is no need to throw away pottery. It can be an excellent decoration, but it is better to refrain from using it in the kitchen.

The dangers of aluminum cookware
In Soviet times, aluminum utensils were very common. And there is nothing strange in this, because this metal is light, cheap and heats up quickly. It can be very pleasant to heat milk, cook porridge and other dishes on such dishes, but it is better to give up this habit forever.
And all because when heated, such dishes release aluminum particles, which then accumulate in the human body. It has been scientifically proven that aluminum is a metal that destroys the human nervous system. People who use utensils made from this material, following a dozen years, may begin to experience serious problems with thinking – the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease increases many times over.
It is necessary to get rid of aluminum dishes from the times of the USSR, and this is not discussed. But if it is made recently and has a non-stick coating, you can use it. But even in this case, you need to be extremely careful not to allow scratches on its surface, through which the neurotoxic metal can be released into food. Damaged aluminum cookware, no matter how new, should also be discarded.
In addition to aluminum, copper and ceramic dishes are considered harmful. We talked regarding them in detail in the article “These types of kitchen utensils are harmful to health – here’s how to replace them.”
The dangers of silicone molds
Every lover of cooking and baking in particular probably has molds for cupcakes and other similar products. They are usually made of harmless silicone and can be heated up to 250 degrees Celsius without any fear.
But even this harmless material can become dangerous in some cases. So, if you forget the cake in the oven, damage may occur on the molds, in which case the molds can no longer be used. The fact is that the structure of the material is already broken, and its particles will certainly get into food. At first, there will be no special effects, but health problems may arise in the long term. Therefore, if there are old silicone molds in the kitchen, it’s time to get rid of it and buy something new.

Old cookware with non-stick coating
Rarely, but still, some people can still see non-stick pans in the kitchen that were released before 2010. Some people love them very much, because they make the most delicious pancakes, and often such dishes are given as a gift for a wedding or other significant events.
You do not need to store them, because with a high degree of probability the non-stick surface contains perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which was popular until 2010, which is also known as Teflon. Today it is already banned, because it has been scientifically proven that it is poisonous to people and provokes the development of cancer.
Old Teflon cookware should definitely be thrown away, because alternative cookware with non-stick coatings made of ceramic and other safer materials has long been available in stores.
