At the end of the 12th round and the fight, the Briton addresses a very slight blow to his opponent, from behind, a kind of slap on the back of the head, when the boxers are supposed to return to their corners respective. Jermaine Franklin gets angry and Joshua clings to him. The American tries to push AJ away as the ref tries to separate them. The altercation continues with a member of Franklin’s staff pushing Joshua. The scuffle lasts a few seconds before everything is finally back to normal.
“I wanted to knock him out”
On the microphone following the fight, Anthony Joshua said “he would have liked to knock out his opponent” but underlined Franklin’s self-sacrifice. The native of Watford is however a specialist with 22 victories by KO on his 25 successes. Over all 12 rounds, the Briton remained quite cautious, preferring to bet on his strike force once morest a less powerful but very tenacious opponent. Franklin showed resistance and made some beautiful fast and explosive sequences.
After making a successful comeback, Anthony Joshua is already thinking regarding what’s next. After the cancellation of his fight once morest Fury, it is not impossible to see the two Britons face off very soon. Joshua was very clear on the microphone: “The ball is in his court, let’s do it.”
